None of us can tell you where your son should go to school ... that is a very very personal decision for him.

But I personally believe that if he commits to a school, he should never look back or second guess his decision. Our son committed early when he was a senior, to a school that he really liked and a program he really thought had potential (they had just moved from D2 to D1). He then had a break out senior season, and many people started to question his early commitment. Quite a few people told him that he should have waited and perhaps something bigger and/or better would have come along. His answer was always "I am happy with my decision. And there is nothing guaranteeing that something "better" would have come along." The rest is history.

So, IMO, if he signs with one school, he needs to be comfortable enough with it that he doesn't look back. Otherwise, I would not recommend that he make the commitment at this time.

I agree with FBM. My '05 just committed after exploring many other schools. I think when your son finds the right fit, you know it and you won't question if it's right. No one else can tell your son yes or no. Best of luck in his decision.

Your son has met the requiremenets for the Bright Futures program for Florida. However, he needs to gain admittance to the schools first.
Personally here in Florida with so much talent, I would not have my son take a chance as a walk on. He may get an opportunity to play somewhere else, he may not. Your son needs to make that decision. Santa Fe has a great program, it may be just what he needs to get to UF later on. I would follow advice of FBM and lafmon.

This is what I love about this site. You people are great. John qualified for 75% bright futures and we also had planned early, purchasing a pre-paid contract. Thanks for your help. And feel free to chime in if any other thoughts come to mind.

Do not take the chance of walking on when you have interest elsewhere. If you did not have any interest, then it's another story. I know two outstanding players that wanted "bigger and better" so they spurned their other offers and attempted to walk-on. The bottom line was not how good they were and what promise they showed - the roster spots were simply already taken even before they set foot on campus. While it is possible to make a team as a walk-on - the chances are not great and certainly not worth blowing off another opportunity. As they say, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

signing with a JC does not preclude you from later signing NCAA DI if you have the opportunity - it's not uncommon - especially in view of your 3.8/1140

the reason to go juco baseball wise is draft & follow or to get your academics in order for a 4 yr school, which they seem to be already

your juco coach should be telling you the same thing

Although it may not hinder you from signing with another school, does it completely halt any other recruiting?

Plenty of players sign with a 4-year and end up at a JUCO as draft/follows.

I do not recall the reverse occuring. It could though, I guess.

Some JUCO players from most teams progress to 4-year schools of all divisions, of course.

Have other schools called? D2, NAIA?

How could he not be accepted with those numbers? Something don 't smell right.

As Jose Lima says "Believe it.". According to the some it's the crown jewel of the state university system, with a large and giving alumni. Jr.s friends basicly needed a 1250 SAT and 3.9 to get in.

I have a feeling (a little birdie said) that there certainly are athletes there without those numbers, though.

playing next week. Hopefully, that attitude is in the extremely small minority out there.
