my son is a will be entering next Fall 2015 in college as a junior in college but a red shirted Freshman. He has talked to some local scouts in MA and one scout is saying he should go play Juco in Texas there is an offer on the table to play for free there the next two years. The problem is academically not attending a four year school again would place him behind the eightball in that aspect but that he has a better chance of being drafted. I feel with a pop time of 1.94 and throwing 85mph and he runs a 6.9sixty he should be able to catch at a lot of schools out there. He was over looked by a lot of scouts and school because of a hockey injury his senior year of HS. He played in Jupiter was a top follow on PG website. How does he get back on the radar and looked at by scouts now that he will be healthy in Summer other then being seen playing college in Fall. Can he workout at a scout camp, for a team etc.

I am not understanding this...let me see, your son will be a junior in college as a red shirted frosh?  But you think that attending a JUCO will help getting drafted?

As a junior, this IS his draft year.

Does he have a solid college commitment?

Why do you think he has a chance of getting drafted?

Please explain, what am I missing?

TPM, not sure if this applies but my son is presently a red-shirt freshman athletically and a junior academically.  He had 21 hours of college credit when he graduated from high school and is now in his 2nd year or 4th semester of college.  He will have 81 hours when the fall semester rolls around.  This could be a similar situation.
