Catchers Equipment

What do you guys consider to be the most important part of the catcher's gear. I have the basic stuff that was handed out by the little league. If I was looking to upgrade something, what would you do first? Chest protector? mask? shin guards?

The cup.

I'd upgrade the piece of equipment that was in the worst shape. Many times the chest protectors handed out by LL teams are too cheap and don't provide enough padding.

Chest protector with enough padding to soften the blow of blocked balls.
