Catching Instructors

Does anyone have a good recommendation on great catching instructors, especially in the Northwest and far West Burbs? I always see lots of discussion regarding pitching and hitting instructors, however I am having a hard time finding a quality catching instructor. Most instructors will teach catching but we are looking for someone that specializes in it.

Alex Fernandez, instructor at the DuPage Training Academy in Carol Stream, is a terrific catching instructor. He worked with my son (age 13) this past winter and we saw a huge improvement in throwing, blocking balls, receiving pitches, setting up. etc.

IL Dad-

We have three very good ones at Play Ball USA (Des Plaines). Joe Ryback, Chris Wilmot and Kevin Nelson (who will be back in September).

I have done quite a bit of catching instruction myself if need be.

Gary Bennett at Slammers. World Series catcher with the 2006 Cardinals. Member of the 2008 Dodgers. He is recently retired and owns Slammers formerly MVP. Gary is the finest catching instructor I have ever seen. What a fine teacher. I have been doing this for 25 years and he is the best I have seen at developing young catchers. It's kind of rare to see a player who was so successful be an even better teacher..... That's Gary.
