When I played at Saint Michael's (98-02) we would open our season in D.C vs Catholic Univ every year. At the time they were a very solid program (occasionally cracking the D3 nat'l rankings). I believe the Coach was Ross Natoli at the time. He ran a very strict ship from what I remember (I remember picking up a paper in the dugout on the visiting side that must have been left there from practice reminding the players of the strict rules against facial hair and things of the like). He also tried to STALL 2 games against us so that they would be called for darkness before we could come out with a win. The plan backfired (it was a real classless move. We swept them in a doubleheader which at the time was a big deal for us. Facilities are real nice. The field was in great shape as well. Tough area--but if that guy is still coaching I would be weary. My Coach was one of the nicest, classiest people I have ever met (Perry Bove)--and I can count on one hand how many times he spoke poorly of an opposing coach. This was one of those times. He was practically doing jumping jacks when we beat them ;-).
I used to know Ross Natoli very well. It has been a long time, but I believe he is still the coach. Despite the post above, he is a great guy, dedicated, a tremendous teacher and has the best interests of his players in mind. He plays to win and he is a competitor in every sense of the word, but he is fair-minded always in his approach. If my son had a chance to play for Ross, I would be very happy, indeed!
