Son was pitching BP to team during college fall workouts.

Coach wanted only strikes thrown.

Son didnt properly protect himself with the L screen and got beaned on the side of the head by a batted ball (metal bats).

It's been 7 weeks and still having symptoms from the concussion.

Doctors say it's temporary but still taking awhile to get back to 100%.

Pitchers please use extreme caution during BP.

I have never seen my son throw during BP, in travel, summer, HS or college. Isn't this extra wasted wear and tear on arm AND as you can see, dangerous.

TPM,

He doesn't throw cages and live sets in the winter? That is also BP

BP bullpen or as in BP batting practice behind a screen? That I have seen the coaches do.

This is why I think it's important that guys, regardless of whether they are throwing BP or in a game, finish in a decent fielding position with their glove in the neighborhood of the GS pec so that they can protect their head and sternum.
