UCA is in their last year of being a transition DI program. The athletic department made the move four years ago almost solely as a result of a good DII football program. When the change was made, every other sport seemed to be along for the ride.

They compete in the Southland Conference and have been a on the lower end of the of middle of the pack for the past couple years. The got a facility upgrade a season ago and now have some decent stands and other things at the park. It still falls short of what most other Southland Conference teams have.

Head Coach Doug Clark has been there since the fall of 2002 (he was a 25+ year assistant at Arkansas before coming to UCA) and has guided them through the transition to DI from DII.
My oldest son graduated from UCA in 2007, and he was starter all 4 years. His last year was the first for UCA as a D1 program. Coming from Texas, it took him a year or so to feel at home in Arkansas, but playing on the UCA team was a wonderful experience for him.

UCA lost their assistant coach, Ryan Johnson, after last season. Son thought very highly of him and was sorry to hear of his leaving. We don't know anything about the replacement. Son always compared Coach Clark to John Wayne. New stadium is a huge upgrade, but still has a way to go to reach other facilites in Southland. The Baseball House was a plus, players hung out there a lot. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions. Here is address for their fans to discuss sports www.ucafans.com
