What do you want to know coach? I'm assuming you are talking about the CCHS in NC. If so, my son's HS is in the same conference as they are. They are located just outside of Concord NC which is just outside of Charlotte NC and are, in general, historically a good baseball school. The coach over there stressed hitting and usually they are a good hitting team. They won our 4A (largest classification in NC) Conference's regular season this year, while my son's team won the conference tournament. They didn't hit quite as well this year as in years past but had a really good SR pitcher who was conference POY and I believe signed to a mid-major D1. The local area supports the team very well and, to me, it appears they have very good facilities for a HS program. I think, but am not sure, that they have most of their team back for next season but that pitcher is going to be hard to replace.

Michael's dad-
Thank you very much for the info. I have been offered a job to teach and coach baseball at the high school, so I wanted to get a local's opinion on the school. It seems to have a great reputation and has good test scores academically. I met the head coach and was quite impressed and the people seemed to be great. Just wanted some info on the school.
Thank you very much - not sure if we are going to accept the offer or not...pretty huge move rigth now... but if you see a Coach Knight working there next year, please introduce yourself if you get the chance!
Coach;
If you accept, I think you will find the area is a great place to live, teach, and coach baseball. Concord still has that small town feel but is close to Charlotte so you can have the advantages that go with a large urban center also. Plus, it's only a 3-4 hours to the beach and 2-3 hours to the mountains.

Let me know if you accept and I'll do my best to stop by as my son's team will play CCHS at least twice next year.

Good Luck on your decision!
Michael's Dad-
I accepted this morning. I have not been offered a baseball job yet, but it looks promising that I will be involved with the baseball program in some capacity. After that, who knows how things will turn out.
My wife and I will probably be moving in 2-3 weeks - not sure the date yet. My wife accepted a job a Pitt School, and my brother Kevin actually will be teaching with me at CCHS as well!
Really excited....but a bit overwhelmed. Huge move - but one that I think is really good for my family.
Thanks for the info - I look forward to meeting you! Coach Knight
SoutherNo1-
Thank you. My family and I are very excited...but a bit stressed -- pretty huge move in a short period of time. Not sure what my involvement will be in the athletic programs...but I'm hoping to get in somewhere. When you've been a head coach for 9 years, the idea of NOT being involved in some capacity would be a bit tough to handle.
Take care - Coach Knight
Coach Knight;
Good to hear things are coming along well. Look forward to meeting you. In the meantime, if you haven't already, you may want to take a look at this web site:

http://www.thisboardrocks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=33

This is a web site for mainly North Carolina HS baseball and it has many members from the Charlotte/Concord/Gastonia/North Mecklenburg areas. During the season there are usually a number of lively discussions going on. It's also a good way to keep track of the local boys. By the way, one of the Central Cabarrus boys, John Kirkpatrick - Sr. MIF, is playing with my son on the Diamond Dreams Elite team out of Concord for the fall. Diamond Dreams is a baseball training facility located on Church Street in Concord. Here is their website.

If you start missing the smells, you may want to stop by and meet the people.
