Surprised that the hoped-for matchup between Nate Kirby and Bryce Harman did not materialize in the James River at L.C. Bird game, as Bird opted not to use Harman. Kirby and Tyler Carrico combined on a 2-hit shutout as James River won, 15-0. JR scored 9 in the 7th so the game went the distance.

Dinwiddie at Hanover, on paper, looked to be a good matchup, but Hanover apparently hit Daniel Bridgeman hard and won 10-0 in 5 innings.

Deep Run benefited from 4 Godwin errors to win 5-1. Michael Boyle had his second straight 6 inning, 13k performance. Boy, we have some high caliber lefties in the area this year!

Matoaca beating Manchester 6-1 is not a surprise, nor an embarrassment, but I am surprised to see Manchester now 0-4 to start the year. Tough initial schedule, but still ....

Yea the Bird/River game was hard to watch especially when the bird coach took all the starters out in the top of the sixth. Kinda wondered why he did that. Went from 6-0 to 15-0 pretty fast. Pretty sure they are throwing Harman against Cosby tommorrow.

As far as Manchester I think the youth of that team is showing right now. Its kinda hard to keep putting dist contenders out there when half of Vcu's team is from Manchester.
