A post I just made about the Central Region semis got me thinking about coaches in the region. I don't want this topic to become a critique of specific coaches, so I want to get that out there up front.

What I would prefer to do is build a run down of the pedigree of the coaches in the area. I'm talking about who they played for in high school and college, and who they've coached under.

For example, I know Tim Lowery played college ball at Longwood and coached at Clover Hill. I'm not sure who his high school coach was or who he coached under at Clover Hill (or any other previous stops).

Stoots (Matoaca) played under Lowery at Clover Hill, then went to Longwood under Buddy Bolding, before coaching at Matoaca under Grant O'Dell.

I know Ray Moore (Freeman) played for his dad at Freeman, then played college ball at Mary Washington and coached in the Hanover program prior to getting the head job at Freeman.

I think Nuckols (Patrick Henry) played at Goochland under Bryan Gordon, then went to UVA under Womack and has coached at PH under Hart.

Elrod (Atlee) played for Kenny Lewis at Lee-Davis, then played under Keyes at VCU before several coaching stops under various coaches.

I believe Mickey Roberts at Prince George also played at Longwood under Buddy Bolding (by the way, it is amazing to see how many former Longwood players are now coaching).

I thought this would be a pretty interesting discussion that hopefully won't go sideways too quickly.

I believe Lowery grew up in Essex or thereabouts, played at Longwood under Bolding (he's been there quite a while!) and Ted Salmon may have been the baseball coach at Clover Hill before turning it over to Lowery and becoming AD. Not totally sure on those details, though.

Langhorne played at Freeman I believe while Wayne Hoy was the head coach. Hoy's son is now (or was, last I saw) an assistant to Dragum at Hanover.

James River's Schumacher went to a prep school in PA somewhere. I assume he played there though he's not prone to talking about his good old days. He was not a collegiate player at Wake Forest. He does surround himself with experienced assistants, including former minor leaguers Greg Dommisse and Brian Marshall, and UMW alum Chris Anderson.

Salmon was the longtime ffootball coach at CH. ythey named the stadium after him a few years ago. Lowery is from Lancaster County. In addition to Stoots he coached Ben Bradford who lead Monacan to a State Championship in 2007 i believe.
I feel like Ken Moore coached JV at DSF before he took over Varsity...He was a longtime Latin teacher at Freeman.
Ronnie Atkins built the JR Tucker program before he went on to UR.
Godwins coach has been arou d for some time...dont know much about him. I believe it was Dan Lynch who lead them to a State Championship.
