Do you know the rule on that? I thought there was an absolute bar against playing on Sundays. Can they make exceptions?
As a practical matter, the 2 semifinal winners go to states. Is there any precedent for not playing the championship game at all, and just sending them? If so, how do they decide who gets the higher seed (and resulting home game)? Are they considered "co-champions" of the region, or is there some tie-breaker?
IMHO, the field was playable tonight and they should've at least gotten one game done. They are likely to face the same situation tomorrow, where the weather is good enough long enough for just one game. That would've allowed the finale to get done on Saturday. I hope it works out because otherwise we've got a mess on our hands. It's hard enough for the AD's of the winners, who won't know until the last minute whether they need a bus for an away game, extra stands for a home game, or what.
I do think Hanover benefits from the extra day (or two). I'm betting you will now see Jake Mayers start on the hill in the semifinal game.

Not exactly sure about Hanover or Henrico, but in Chesterfield, the superintendant can approve a Sunday or holiday game.
So who are in the semis? And who are the favorites to get to states? Haven't heard much about the central region up here in NoVa
Hanover defeated Godwin 11-7. No score yet on the Deep Run - Thomas Dale game.
Deep Run beat Thomas Dale 5-3. Seth Greene threw 5.3 innings, had 2 hits and 3 RBIs for the win. Orlan closed the game.
Hanover won today and gets the home game for the state quarterfinals. Deep Run will hit I-95 come Tuesday.
Should be a good pitching duel at WS on Tuesday. Two 90+ pitchers going to top Div I schools - although WS's is a junior. If DR brings its game like it did at Manchester instead of the one they brought in the second half of the Hanover game - they should do well.
