So just a question for whoever wants to reply. I'm new to this so sorryiftherehas been a question likethis before.I'm 21 years old and I'm just curious if a scout would ever look at someone likemyself after being out of baseball for 3 years? I'm a 6' left-handed pitcher throw bout 88mph and got a couple good off speed pitches.

I don't want to crush anybody's dreams but I will be candid. The road will be difficult especially when you said you throw ABOUT 88mph. Does this mean you throw 85 to 87 and touch 88 sometimes? Being lefthanded helps get looks but at a Tampa Bay tryout camp, the scout was pretty implicit that they like righthanders to throw 90 plus and lefthanders to WORK at 88 plus unless there is something very special about their other pitches. And that leads me to tell you, the only way you'll find out is to go to some of the free Major League tryout camps although the eight or nine we've attended were always in the summer. I have seen free agents get a job on several occasions right there at the camp. Everything will really be up to you and how much you want to pursue this longshot. If you were a position player, your age would be against you after missing three years of advanced instruction and competition. But having said that, I'll repeat--you'll never know unless you try! Good luck.
