Players from across the country are welcome to attend our tryouts and compete for a spot on one of the best travel teams in the nation.

Hi Jeff, Can you tell me about any opportunities to play and/or train with Chandler baseball in the State College, PA vicinity... or surrounding areas?  I have a 14 year old (incoming freshman this year, Class of 2017) who just finished VFW Teener League All Star play and is looking for more competition and training. Thanks!

Just got an email from Chandler bats that Chandler baseball does not exist. it is was a bit confusing but it appears from the below that basseball organization dropped the sponsor...not something you hear every day. Anyone have an update on this? I know several kids in the program and they may be looking for a new home.

Dear Players &   Parents,

It is both surprising and unfortunate to learn this weekend that our official   sponsorship of this fine program has been turned away, starting with the   current season.   The numerous phone calls, emails and   communications sent to Chandler Bats over the weekend, expressing   disappointment, frustration and compassion for our brand, was overwhelming,   as well as inspiring.   We thank you.

I honestly feel each   player and parent in this program over the past year has been truly   exceptional in every aspect, both on the field and off.   We have   established such a tight bond with so many of you and have continually worked   to have your family’s best interests at the forefront, and we don’t want to   lose that.   The decision by Mr. Helsel to move on without the   support of Chandler was not financially driven from our stance.  We   entered this agreement without a guarantee or demand of profiting from the   program.  Our mission has been to work in a unified fashion, utilizing   our resources and contacts to enrich each player’s life.

I understand this abrupt announcement has many families pulled in different   directions, and for that I am sorry.  Given the fact people have already   paid for the summer season with Mr. Helsel’s group, we feel it is only fair   to encourage people and players to use this opportunity to play baseball this   summer as planned, albeit without the official sponsorship of Chandler.

This by no means changes our vision - filled with both vigor and desire - to   support youth baseball development throughout Pennsylvania and the   surrounding areas.  To this extent, we have already made all the steps   and commitment to preserve the Chandler World Team immediately, by personally   funding and supporting the entire Summer and Fall seasons for that   team.  Furthermore, we look forward to affording everyone the   opportunity for a meaningful, strategic and value-based program for you to   join under the Chandler name again this Fall.   If you would like   to continue receiving update announcements over the coming weeks regarding   the new baseball program, please reply to Hannah Mein at Hannah.Mein@RxSport.com.

Again, we cannot express enough how disappointed we are at not being the   sponsor of your group any longer.  I can tell you how appreciative we   are of your kind words about our company and its efforts.  I invite you   to let me know of any questions or concerns you or your player may have. You   can reach me at (877) 497-2287 x 101 or David.Chandler@RxSport.com.

  Sincerely,
  David Chandler

Program is same and teams, coaches, everything still intact.  Just a new name and no longer sponsored by Chandler.  The new name is "USA Elite Baseball" -  http://usaelitebaseball.net .  Organization is still run by same men and women who built it over the years (they were affiliated with the Evoshield Canes before Chandler....prior name was Mid-Atlantic Canes).  Great organization with strong core values, great college coach contacts, an established track record and talent up and down.  I do believe the older, elite Chandler World Team will stay intact for this year.  Otherwise, I think it was just a difference in philosophy/direction, nothing major.  So, when you see a team called "USA Elite Baseball", it is a prior Chandler team (from 2013).

Dave Chandler has been successful for a long time where as the Mid-Atlantic/Evoshield have changed their organization a few times over the last few years.  Makes me wonder what the philosophical differences really are.  A lot of time, money and effort was put into Chandler Baseball to have it disappear so quickly.

they are an odd one for sure, i have seen an organization that is loved by many and hated by even more. I am not sure where I stand on them, everytime we have played them it has been a good ball game that is for sure.

I guess my thought is really that they aren't a team but really a recruiting service. they don't practice together, whatever improvments you make to your game are on you and the work you do at home...they just give a name to travel under.

I know several kids either in or who were in the program and you get a very wide range of opinions from the parents and kids - everything from the greatest too the worst season of my life.

The "worst season of my life" sends up red flags for sure.  Just one of those seasons with that kind of cost PLUS the de-motivational effect on the player makes me second guess "their" philosophy.  I'm absolutely thrilled with my son's organization and the speed and track of their development program.  Stories like above make me even more so!..
