A friend with a son who plays for a Texas JUCO told me there were 85 scouts at her son's game this past weekend. I am not that familiar with JUCO ball, but that number sounded huge to me.

I am wondering if the newly-reduced roster size rule is causing 4-year programs to put much more recruiting emphasis on JUCO players than in the past. Perhaps these programs are wanting to go for "proven" JUCO players rather than take a gamble on unproven high school players since they can sign only a few each year?

Yes, more and more D1 schools are looking for JUCO position players. They want that player that has proven the ability to do college level academics and compete on a high level.
