Aside from catching,I play 3b

Heres the story.Due to Injuries Coach might move me there for varsity and I would still be the 2nd option at catcher but he is saying that he would want to keep the varsity starter behind the plate and not at 3b.Within the next week I will likely start a game at 3b and possibly catcher.

Two completely different positions but a different mindset for each.I played 2 games at JV at 3b so I could kind of re-adjust to playing there for varsity, and I would still see the same amount of time behind the plate.

Not a big fan of 3b because my game involvement isnt like at catching.I guess this will all settle down next year when I start at catcher?

JT's right on this one...through his son, he has some experience with your exact situation.

Versatility is almost always good unless it impedes your progress at a preferred position. If you can manage to compete successfully at 3B and not go backwards in regards to your catcher skills then by all means go that route...enjoy your playing time...have a good season...keep us posted.

good
That's like me.. I'm listed, so I'm told, as a catcher/outfielder on the varsity roster. I haven't taken a single ball in the outfield yet this year. I'm at a point where my primary responsibility is to catch, but if I was needed elsewhere, I have played nearly every position on the field at some point since 8th grade. My coach knows I can, and will, play wherever he would need me to at any given time. I just focus on catching 99% of the time.
