A question to coaches and players regarding technology. How many of you like the idea of charting pitches on a palm pilot, if (when the outing is over) you can instantly tell pitchers how often they do certain things, such as:
* Hit their intended spot
* Make a "quality pitch" (corners / knees)
* Throw 2 of first 3 pitches for strikes
* Turn 1-1 counts into 1-2 counts
* Keep runners on base from scoring
* Throw offspeed pitches for strikes
* Get hitters to chase pitches (like chase their 0-2 dirtball, for example)
* Get hitters to take strikes (like take your curveball for a strike, or take your 0-0 pitch for a strike)
* And just about ANYTHING else you'd like to know...
There's a really good teaching tool that we're using in games and even bullpens. I'm curious how many know about it, and how many think it could really help players to have this type of info about their own pitching habits. Our guys really like it.
