Is that Valley Christian Athletic Association? Our kids won their division of that tournament a couple years back. Sorry, don't have any news of Chatsworth HS. I believe they've got a pretty strong team again this year.

Yes it is. My sons Gabriel, a Baylor signee, and Joseph played with Bryan there. They also won the Port Hueneme tournament a long time ago as All Stars.

As far as Chatsworth, I believe they are 20-0 right now and one of the favorites to win the City Championship this year. San Pedro and a few other West Valley teams seem to be their biggest competition right now. I'll keep you posted as the season goes on. (if only the Trojans could be having such a good season) fight on!

The CBC tournament? Our 11yos nearly mercied a team in the first round. Our coach pulled some pretty bush stuff and they caught us again in the loser's bracket. They brought in their district pitcher and a couple other players off that team to knock us out of the tournament and then dropped out of the tournament themselves.

Yes I think that was it it's been a long time now. How is VCAA as a league now? How large, etc. Love to hear news from the old neighbourhood. Heybatter, taking solice in the fact Trojan have one of the top 2 toughest schedule in country and Baylor having a rough year has 3rd toughest.
Couldn't tell you how large the league is. They have fairly decent facilities. During the tournament I was impressed by the people running the tournament. It seemed like they took the Christian part of the VCAA name seriously based on the way they acted. Quality people. Our 12yo are unlikely to get out of district as we'll be facing a team with a good chance to reach regionals in our district tournament so we'll probably try to play the VCAA tournament again this year.
I see Chatsworth HS 30-0 has moved up to #3 nationally in the latest Baseball America poll. I haven't been able to find much on them or Bryan Petersen via the LA Times online. Did find the article on him hitting the game winning homer in the LA City Section CIF Championship at Dodger Stadium last year. So anybody with any news or links would be greatly appreciated. Of course still interested in any VCAA info also.

What is the latest update on Chatsworth in the City Tournament. Did they win today?
Chatsworth beat Sylmar 6-4 and, I believe, are now in the semi-finals.

The four teams left are Chatsworth, El Camino, Kennedy and San Pedro. Not sure who plays who in the semi-finals.
I think any one of them has a chance to win it all. Should be some great HS baseball.

What was the score from Fridays game???
Don't know the semi final scores but Chatsworth and San Pedro won and play 6/8 at Dodger Stadium for the championship.
It would be quite a feat for SP to win, I believe their softball team just won City.
Chatsworth has come from behind last two games (down by seven yesterday in the semis). should be interesting.

As far as SC's current recruits, the top 2 or 3 look to be high draft picks and my never see campus. I believe each is a pitcher or two way player. SC really needs some pitching (and help every where else wouldn't hurt
). The top recruits (sergio santos-D'Backs, Ian stewart-Rockies etc.) the last several years have been lost to the draft.
The rest of the recruits I've seen listed here and there are mostly 3b and shortstops, no one I've heard much about. The SC recruiting process is very much a mystery to me.
My son will be playing in a local (SoCal area) scout league this summer. His HS graduation isn't for a few weeks and starts college mid'August so it'll be a short summer.

I think Farragut HS (TN) and Chatsworth (CA) should meet in Omaha to have a national champion. Two years in a row finishing #1 and #2 in the national polls is too much for me.

ESPN's local sports update last night said that Chatsworth has won 50 games in a row ... I was in shock !!!
