Tuz...I saw them play a few games 2 or 3 years ago when they played UIC.

Not sure what they were trying to do then, but it wasn't a competitive baseball team that they had on the field. One or two very good players in the entire lineup.

Tough to recruit. They are likely hoping that trips to Hawaii (a few years ago); Florida; California; and, Texas...would help their recruiting. Winning 5 and losing 50 each year won't attract anyone.
Chicago State is an independent again, so for them to survive, they have to play this tremendously tough schedule to pay for their budget. Their basketball team is in the same boat in which 70% of their games are on the road. They played a school called East-West this past weekend at home (I have never heard of East-West). They always have 1 or 2 kids who are pretty talented but they can't compete at the D1 level.
