Anyone have any current insight on the status of this league?
I heard a couple of teams recently left, leaving the league with only 3-4 teams.

The League is not dead yet, but is in serious trouble.

CGL has been in existence for over 8 decades
and has experienced many challenges.
Thousands of young men who have played in the League have had successful baseball careers, both in college and beyond.

Look at the landscape around the league? How many teams are left in league? Look at the leagues around the area? The Cal Ripken League is better, the Valley Baseball League is better, the CPL is better. For better or worse, the league is a shell of it's former self. It's not even a top 12 league anymore.

Why is it that teams are leaving the CGL?
Are there too many other leagues in close proximity?
Do the other leagues (within close proximity) offer better facilities?
Are teams more profitable in other leagues?
What has happened that top players choose (or are assigned) to other leagues like the Valley and Cal Ripken?
Will the CGL be able to attract replacement teams?
I LOVE the traditions associated with baseball. There are few sports that can boast or compete with the longevity as baseball. As bear has mentioned how many leagues have been in existence for 8 decades....
To me, it would be very sad to see this league fold - Bear give me some hope!!!!

While I don't think the Clark Griffith League will fold, it has seen better days.
A couple reason for it's decline is the growth of nearby leagues. The other leagues do a much better job of promoting their leagues. Outside of your die-hard summer league fans and scouts, the CGL is a non-factor in terms of summer ball.

With only 3-4 teams....will be hard to stick around. Are there plans for new teams to be coming in? After all, both So MD Cardinals and Carney Pirates both were relatively new teams, I think.
Which I guess also brings up the question as to why relatively new teams would come in, and then, in a couple of years, move on?

I heard today that this league has indeed folded.
I heard that as well, but I haven't been able to confirm it. If true, it was bound to happen. To much good competition around them.
