While watching Kyle Drabek pitch against the Rangers tonight, I remembered that I meant to post a link to my son's first published article.

For those of you that have kids playing in HS or headed off to college right now, cherish those days as you will never know who your son is playing with or against will someday make it big. My son graduated in 2007 and was lucky enough to play against some very good major league players like Kershaw, Walden, Austin Jackson, Beavan and Drabek. It's fun to watch as these "kids" now that they are in the bigs....and there are a few more on the way.

This is a great post. It should serve as a reminder to many parents, coaches and players how much talent is in the DFW area. Having moved a few times in the last 15 years I can assure you that we are trully blessed to live in this baseball rich area. I beleive sometimes folks who have lived here most of their adult life take it for granted the talent of these kids.

I can tell you that my sons have lived and played in cold weather states and warm weather states. I am fortunate that the last seven years of my youngest son's baseball life has taken place in Florida and Texas because I honestly do not beleive he would have progressed the way he has if we had remained in the cold weather state. Plus he gets to play D1 ball in Texas. How many kids who live in cold weather states would love to play in a warm weather state? Trust me, alot.

Oh and for those cold weather states transplants, I spent the first 46 years of my life living in cold weather states so there is no home grown bias in my opinion.
KD - I rarely drop in here anymore...but am glad I did tonight. Excellent article by Nick and I'm glad to see he is a published author. Congrats!

Kershaw is a special young man. I met he and his wife Ellen this winter, got a look at the Cy Young trophy and read their outstanding book, "Arise." I highly recommend it.

Please let Nick know one of his old baseball dad admirers enjoyed his written work.
