It's been a long time since I posted here, as my son is no longer playing baseball. However, I still like to keep tabs on various players.

The article linked below came out in the past couple of days on Cleveland Dad's son, who was just promoted to AA. Sooooo happy for the Bortnick family!!

This is just fantastic. Congrats to Tyler and family - so very well deserved.

He has the best strike zone discipline in the Tampa Bay system, according to Baseball America. He's the best baserunner, too.

“He's a baseball player,” Biscuits manager Billy Gardner said. “He's a blue-collar kid, and you're not going to outwork him or outhustle him. He's going to do what it takes to beat you.”

And Bortnick, 24, doesn't pay attention to the numbers he's put up. They're enough that he's been a regular All-Star the last three seasons and enough that the Rays sent him to the Arizona Fall League last year, but they're not part of his regular reading.

“You have to take it one at-bat at a time. You can't think about your last at-bat or your next one,”

Tears in my eyes. This couldn't be written about a more deserving player.
