Club Baseball

I know that club baseball at various colleges represents another opportunity to play baseball for players looking to go to a particular college for academics yet still continue their baseball career. But, is there a possibility of earning a spot the actual team's roster by performing spectacularly on the school's club baseball team? Thanks.

It varies at every school. At Florida we have had three players move on to the Varsity team in the past 2 seasons (2 pitchers and a SS). It all depends on the relationship between the club program and the varsity team. We have been lucky so far to have a great relationship with this coaching staff.

It does happen; I have known 2 kids, one at LMU and a second at UCSB that made the team after playing on the club team. Once they made the team neither played very much (one pitched in one game, the other had less than 10 AB's).

Because the answer to your question is so situational in nature, make sure that you get the same sort of good historical information that dkgator and ILVBB give from coaches and/or players. Many programs do not tap their club teams on a regular basis.
