The true name is...

College of the Albemarle (a Junior College)

Head Coach
Norbie Wilson

Here is a link about the Coach (I have met him only once but he seems very genuine and I do know that he is held in the highest regard around the Tidewater area).

A NJCAA D-II school here is the link to the program webpage.

If your son is going the JUCO route, there is not a better coach or person to play for than Norbie Wilson. The school's baseball program just got started again this season with Norbie at the helm after I think close to 20 years. I would expect that program to be one of the best in the South in not too many years. And they are having quite a first year by the way.
It is a new program being run or helped by ex-FC coaches as it sounds. My father was at the OL/Kville game last Wednesday and sat with our good family friend, Rick Ezell, who was contacted by Norbie to help scout for COA. Ezell used to coach with Norbie and at FC until about 3 years ago. Alot of beach talent has gone to this first year program and is a good school located in Elizabeth City. They play schools such as Pitt Comm. College and so on. Good competition. A step up school to places like ECU in the area and other NC Div. 1 School programs like UNCW, NCCU, UNCC, State, UNC, Elon, Campbell....etc etc.
ECU,

I'm sure you mean well but I'd like to clarify something:

People don't "scout" for colleges. There are no scouts in college baseball. There are coaches. Most likely, your family friend is a friend of the program and will recommend players for Norbie.

With that being said, most of the NC JuCo's are good baseball. COA is the newest and there is a lot of excitement around the program. The coaching staff is solid and they are getting good players from the Tidewater area. I will be interested to see where some of the players move onto after their 2nd year.
