I know this has probably been covered a time or two and this is a little lengthy but please bare with me. I've been long friends with a guy who just committed to a school, (mid-major D-1) not sure if it matters. His dad grew up with their recruiting coordinator and they talk 2-3 times a day about prospects, the dad and my dad are good friends, friend's dad calls one day to tell me that the school is really interested and they'll be in contact. The coach sends an e-mail to state that they're interested and said that Coach blank had passed on the information to him. The email contained a lot of information on the college and a couple days later a camp invite comes. Every couple weeks, they send information e-mails about the school and a "checking in" e-mail. But I haven't heard from them in close to two months. My question is, are/were they interested or just getting money?

Upst13, the big question here is, did you make any effort to follow up with coach X? If not, you did the "Pop up" way. He got a lot of letters, never called any of them to my knowledge. Ended up waiting for JC coach to offer.

I know it may be difficult for some young people to interact with adults they do not know. If you did not follow up, they either got their man or not hearing back from you they assumed you weren't interested.

You can pick up the phone and call them anytime, they however have restrictions on when they can contact you.

Best wishes.
Thanks for your response! I followed up when I felt like it wasn't a form e-mail. Some would just give me a bunch of information about different parts of the school, things to do around the campus etc..and at the bottom it said 'click if you do not want to be included in future emails' so I figured they were just generic and I know it sounds stupid but, I didn't want to look like an idiot if they were generic so I didn't reply to those. Should I?
