Not a big fan of coaching gadgets, but we have been using one for about 12 years and it appears to have staying power. One of the coaches made a wedge or incline for hitters to place their back foot on. Really seems to help in maintaining balance and the appropriate hip explosion when initiating the forward thrust.

Anybody else got stuff to recommend? Mostly looking for hitting type stuff...Not necessarily trying to use a new tool. Just FMI.

One we use is a 'click stick'. We take a dowel rod for the bat, and we add three washers to it so that they slide the length of the rod. Tape the end so the washers will not fly off. The object is to make the washers click at the point of contact (in front). Works great for those that cast or bar out. They usually will click early (behind the body).
For < $100, I find value in the "Zip Stick" which is quite similar to the 'Golf Stick', and the 'washers' on dowel.

For my clinics, it helps reveal to those younger and aged hitters, the proper position of the hands in the hitting zone at contact point.

Any 'tools' that motivates a kid to swing correctly and swing more often, (since it is now rare that the neigborhood boys go to the park and play pick up / line ball), is ok by me.
