Real nice campus is a nice location 15 minutes from the beach. Not much to offer directly off campus however. Baseball Facilities are top notch and of course the Baseball team does very well. They will be hosting regionals in 2015 I believe. Academics are average at best.
They are also planning to expand their enrollment by a few thousand. There is a lot of current construction taking place on the campus, to include a renovated baseball and softball facility that will open Spring '14.
Thank you
CDs son played there. PM him if he doesn't respond via a post.

very nice school, great area too. We were down there this past summer. Also we went to USC for a camp then over to Coastal on our way to the beach. the school is putting a lot of $$$ into the new ball field and there is a lot of construction still going on...
My son is also thinking about this school he is a 2015 grad.
Good Luck,
Joe
Does it feel like a true college town/experience?
My son was interested but is realizing he wants an experience where school is not in middle of big city, where kids live on campus, he wants school w good sports teams so he can see some good basketball or football games. hoping he ll have that ah ha moment and fall in love w one or two campuses. So far it's been more about right baseball feeling which is important but not Only factor.

Not in a big city at all. Son loved environment and campus near the ocean. Son transferred after injury.

Playball, check your GPS. Are you referring to Conway... or Charleston?
If Conway is too big city for your son, he's going to be left with a very short list of possible colleges.

I was thinking the same thing. If Playball Jr. goes to a one room high school, then yeah... Conway is big. But having been down there this past July, it's far from a big city.
I'm talking about any college in city area, charleston, butler(Indy), Lou, Cincinnati, xavier, etc.
these r colleges in cities that would exist without college being present vs college town where campus is heart of city and maybe a bigger city 30 min or more minutes away.
I don't know about Coastal Carolina, but you seem to be from same area I am from and a small town college feel that I know of is Kent, Miami, most of the MAC's in fact. I would think that Indiana, Purdue, Michingan St and Michigan would qualify in Big Ten, though I have only seen Michigan St
Be very careful, two top quality 2013 players had their scholarships pulled after 1 year at Coastal Carolina. And trust me, they were not problem kids, they both got decent playing time as freshman and both are starting and playing well at the schools they transferred to. I am not sure if this is an annual habit but I would be very leery about going there.
