With the Colleges in Illinois upgrading their baseball facilities..what are some of the nicer college facilities in Illinois?

Woops!, SLU not in IL but only 2 miles from it.
UIC just replaced their infield and the view of the downtown Chicago skyline can not be beat.
Benedictine University in Lisle has a nice complex. The Dupage Dragons play there in the summer.
University of Illinois is installing field turf like UIC. Should be done in a few months.
Purdue will have a new stadium for 2009.
Michigan has plans on building a new stadium. I believe it is a 7-9 million dollar project

Indiana University was suppose to break ground Aug. 2007 (not to sure of the status).
Penn State has an unbelievable stadium

There is only one field that every college player wants to play at... Located on Hwy 80 and 13th street, south of Omaha..."The Blatt" (Rosenblatt Stadium).

That UIC Field is beautiful. Not only does the field itself look great, but I'd venture to say the setting and view are second to none if not many.
It also makes all kinds of sense for a school in our weather area to have the turf....the field will be playable very early in the year when so many games are played.

You guys are all forgetting about the facilities at O'Brien Field in Peoria, home of the Bradley Braves.

The facility itself is VERY NICE, but the playing field is second rate at best.
As far as a JUCO field goes, NONE in the area are better than Elgin.
How about North Central ? Sure looked like a first rate field to me .
i played on all three of the fields just mentioned in college ball last spring.(ELgin, Bennedictine, NC) Id have to agree with nole in saying that BU is the best around HERE, but definatly elgin and NC are close seconds...
IBC in Illinois is one of the nicest I have seen. First rate all the way.
Ben is correct...O'Brien field wins! It was/is out of sight/mind.....For most of us it is in the middle of no where!
Bret,according to my son, the playing field is fine. The sun however,is a huge problem. He likes IBC and North Central.

I think as far as D-3 schools go North Central is much better then IBC. When playing at IBC last spring, the infield was horrible. I think by far one of the nicest fields in the area has to be Elgin CC. Those guys do one heck of a job keeping the field in great playing condition
My favorite D-3 field/facility is at Illinois Wesleyan.
Benedictine has all the whistles and bells with the dugouts and other things outside the playing field. surface is very nice also.
North Central is alright, i wouldn't put it up there in the top 5 though.
Elgin CC, very impressed with what they do over there. if the sun bothers you i would suggest this invention they came up with called sunglasses! in all seriousness though this is the best juco field in illinois bar none!

I think we all agree that field atmosphere plays a huge role in how we judge a field. UIC has the skyline that no other field can duplicate. Benedictine has alot of things others can't say they have and Bradley has a 10,000 seat stadium. However, when the place only has 800 people there it could hurt the atmosphere.

University of St Francis / SilverCross Field in Joliet ranks right up there with the best!
John A Logan College has a new home field in the Southern Illinois Miners 5,000 seat stadium with complete Artificial Turf....no dirt at all..
Their other field that we have used in our Diamnod Sports Tourneys has been designated as a practice facility for 2008 season.. All Home games and Logans Tourneys are being held at the new Miners Stadium
Hard to beat that facility for a Division I Juco program and their so called practice facility is excellent..
Look for Diamond Sports Promotions to be using both facilities along with SIU-Carbondale in tourneys in 2008..

Took a look at the Miners stadium when we played the Bullets in June. Couldn't believe the mound was even turf. Everything else I could understand, but I don't know why they turfed that mound.
Glad that I am not alone on IBC. The grass kinda looked like my back yard LOL

The pitchers notice no difference...and the mound is maintenance free..Logan pitchers actually liked it and no complaints from Miners
