College baseball opens up Feb 1.

I can't wait!

I'd suggest checking schedules and planning to see some games at every level.

Pete Hughes spoke recently about the importance of "self evaluation" during the recruiting process.

How does a kid, player, high school or travel coach "know" where a kid can play if they themselves are not out there watching those games?

How can you "self evaluate" if you don't know what you are comparing against?

See you at some games this spring.

Yes it does and I can't wait either. Most of the schools will be starting up in the next week or so. Of course D3 starts playing a couple of weeks before D1. Good luck to all of the Va kids getting ready for the college season. I also second what Rich says about those w/ interest in playing at the next level. You definitely need to get out and see a game or two. Also make sure you see some at different divisions. That way you can compare your skills w/ each level.
I agree with you Rich (and Coach Hughes) on self evaluation.
I tell upcoming kids and their parents: Know how good you really are, or more importantly, Realize how good you are NOT.
So many players spend time and money pursuing the dream of high-level D1, only to find out that their efforts would have been better spend at lower D1 or D3.
Having learned this the hard way, I recommend players and parents visit schools and participate in several camps at all levels to find the right talent fit.
The recruiting process will be much more enjoyable that way (to the extent that process can be enjoyable).
No one specific. The kids I know well, I know their status. I know (and of) many from around the area that went "here or there" and am curious as to who worked out and who didn't.

As far as my "2 weeks to go" comment that was based on general terms... no difference in my opinion in regards to the specific date ( 2 weeks or 3) the question is the same: are rosters set? if so why not post?
I will never understand why Coaches do not keep their web sites up to date with current rosters and schedules. Potential recruits want to know where the the school will be playing and how many players they have at their positions. Alumni also want to follow their schools. Parents and players want to see their names posted. I think those coaches are missing out on a good recruiting tool, and for the JC's whose kids are hoping to play elsewhere in a year or two the coaches looking at those schools have no idea who is there and who is not back. This seems a major dis service to their players and fans.
I wouldn't let it get your sliding pants in a bunch. If you have a specific question pick up the phone and call the coach or AD.

And blaming the coach might be barking up the wrong tree. S.I.D. usually handles team websites. If coaches knew how to make websites they'd probably be web developers making coin, not coaches. Just saying.

Most schedules are online now.

My son just returned to campus this past week for Spring term, so I'm hoping the roster will be posted soon. First day was team meeting and pictures. I imagine that someone just has to find the time to enter the information. At least the schedule has been up for quite awhile.

I keep checking other schools around the ODAC. Seems like everyone waits to put up their roster (except Roanoke College - Coach Mac must be ready to get started).

I thought I'd share that Coach McGuire picked up his 1st Win as head coach today.  Of all things vs Ferrum where he recruited almost the entire lineup.

Also want to give recognition to Coach Spotts at Eastern Mennonite (former asst. at Bridgewater) for picking up his first Win as a head coach this past weekend against NCW.

I hope to get to RMC this weekend.  Was at practice at UR yesterday.  Saw practice at TCU last week Fort Worth.  Can you tell I'm ready for baseball?

Son's first college game is tomorrow - a double header beginning at 12 noon.  Forecast is low 50's for a high.  He's at PHCC (DII JUCO) in Martinsville.  The Patriots are hosting Rappahannock Community College.  Unfortunately, we can't make it - it's a 5 hour drive, but we have plans to go next weekend.

He's freshman so he probably won't see much playing time initially.  He appears to be the primary backup for his position (1B).

Go Patriots!
