Do any schools give college credit for the time spent in college baseball? Someone asked me this question and it had never crossed my mind. This person seemed to think that some schools do offer college credit for baseball.

Wish they did. If they did, I know a bunch of Ph.D candidates. My son tells me his school has a class named "Golf 101", in which he is enrolled for next semester.
A couple of players we know, in JuCo ball here in CA, and AZ take classes, as in Baseball 101, 102, etc....and receive credit....have never heard of it other than JuCo's....
At a minimum, being a baseball player should give you an automatic minor in "turf management".
Way back in the day, my college had a PE requirement. You had to accumulate 4 credits in a PE class, and each class gave 1 credit. But you couldn't get more than 2 of the credits in any one sport.
As I recall, I got 2 credits via my participation on the baseball team. For the other 2 credits, I showed up to play 3 hours of pickup basketball once a week for 2 fall semesters. (These credits were pass/fail, not graded.)
Of course, that was back when the baseball teams didn't claim all of your time in the fall, too! So I have no idea what schools allow these days, but at least to a limited extent some form of credit for baseball has occurred and probably still goes on.
In my case, the number of credits wasn't all that significant, but it did get one graduation requirement checked off the checklist.

It amazes me that they can't get some sort of PE credit for all of the conditioning. The JC's around here do give credit to baseball players but no D1.
They should just give the kids some cash. They spend a huge amount of time either conditioning or at the field. Probably 30 hours a week in the fall. More in the spring. Much more if you include travel times. 6-8 hour practices are normal.
Actually my son's DI does give a limited number of Physical Education credits to athletes of competitive sports.

I believe that some physical education credit should be given to any collegiate athlete based on the amount of time and effort required to compete.....

My son's D3 has a PE requirement, and players can earn 1 PE credit per year for their participation on the baseball team. I think there is a maximum of 2 credits earned per sport.
Yes, at a JUCO, they will get credit for baseball which can transfer typically for PE credits.
Add one more to the "got college PE credits" column for baseball.
