Has everyone else experienced this? My son is a Junior in HS and last fall took some sort of pre-ACT test.

After the first of the year, we began receiving e-mails from colleges requesting us to send away for their brochures on financial aid, filling out good college applications, etc. They are all pretty much identical, using phrases like "Your accomplishments have caught our attention," "Your dedication," "Your success" etc.

We didn't reply to any of them and now we get e-mails that say things like "I've been trying to get in touch with you," "I want to make sure I have your correct e-mail address," and "I've sent you several e-mails and have received no response."

They're beginning to remind me of the jilted girlfriend in "Fatal Attraction"

I will not be ignored!!!!

These are well respected colleges. Why are they acting like this? It seems a little desperate and unprofessional.

Yes, this is very normal. The testing agencies must make the test scores, addresses and e-mail addresses available to schools in some way.

They had both my e-mail address and my sons and we were flooded with e-mails. He did not respond to the e-mails for schools he was uninterested in, just deleted them. As you get closer to application time you will get more from some universities that invite you to apply with no essay and no application fee. These are nice if it is a school which your son plans to apply to.
