College Freshman All-American

Dan Hudson (ODU) and Beemer Weems (Baylor) both 2005 Princess Anne grads were named freshman all-americans. Also named was Jared Bolden (VCU)

RHP Dan Hudson, Old Dominion -- Named to the All-Rookie Colonial Conference team, Hudson posted a 7-3 record with a 3.28 ERA and 79 strikeouts.

Beamer Weems, Baylor -- Weems was sensational on defense as he only committed 8 errors all season and none since the second game of the year. On offense, he hit .296 with 7 homers, 13 doubles, 5 triples and 43 RBI.

Jared Bolden, Va. Commonwealth -- An All-Rookie selection in the Colonial Conference, he hit .383 with 5 homers, 11 doubles, 6 triples and 32 RBI. He also swiped 8 bases.

Wown he only made 8 erros and none after the second game. His coach must have really trusted him a lot to keep player after making 8 erros in the first two games. that is a lot errors for one person. Gald he made it through the tough time.

My only problem with all Amereican teams there seems to be 100 first teamers. The way I figure there should be 11 of them 1 for each position, one releif pitcher, and one DH. Then have asecond team etc.

The University of Virginia baseball program landed three first-year players on the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Team, as chosen by Collegiate Baseball. UVa's trio of Sean Doolittle (Tabernacle, N.J./Shawnee), Robert Poutier (Yorktown, Va./Grafton) and Pat McAnaney (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) were named Freshman All-Americans. Doolittle (1B/LHP) was named an All-American multiple position athlete, while Poutier (RHP) and McAnaney (LHP) were named All-American starting pitchers.

David Adams, Virginia 2B — Led the team in runs scored (57) and ranked third in hits (76) as he collected 8 doubles, 4 triples and 5 home runs while hitting .318. He started 62 games for the Cavaliers and had 49 RBI.

Greg Miclat, Virginia SS — Led the team in stolen bases (21-of-24) and hit .316. He had the second most runs on the team (53) while finishing with 68 hits, 11 doubles, 2 triples and 22 RBI. He started 57 of 61 games and was superb on defense.

Jeremy Farrell, Virginia 3B — Finished fifth on the team with a .324 batting average as he collected 48 hits, 19 runs and 32 RBIs. He started 45 of 58 games and had 9 doubles, 1 triple and 2 home runs.

By the way, anyone know what happened with Poutier this season? He got off to a start that was less than stellar, but not all that bad, either. Then they just stopped using him altogether. Did he get hurt or something?

I wouldn't think they'd just bench him. It would seem like his freshman year proved what he was capable of, and a couple of mediocre outings shouldn't have turned them off on him.

I believe he got injured. Thats why his numbers were totally different from his stellar Freshman season.
