ODAC DH contest this Saturday against the #1 rival...Randolph Macon.
Freshman SS Jake Loye's walk-off 3 run shot in the bottom of the 9th spoiled Lynchburg College's 3 run rally in the 9th as Averett came from behind to defeat the Hornets 7-6 Tuesday at Averett. Jon Crews had tied the score for LC with a 2-out single, and David Gaines followed with a 2-RBI double to put LC ahead before Loye's bottom of the 9th heroics. LC returns to action Thursday with a home date with King College.

LYNCHBURG, VA – Despite out hitting visiting King College Thursday, the Lynchburg College baseball team dropped a home non-conference match-up, 6-3. The Hornets could not capitalize on numerous scoring opportunities, stranding eight base runners and hitting into four double plays.

Shortstop Ronnie LaBrie ((Vinton, VA/Staunton River) ripped three hits in four trips to the plate to lead the offense for the Hornets, while Eric O’Brien (Roanoke, VA/Cave Spring) and David Gaines (Lynchburg, VA/Jefferson Forrest) each went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Cameron Grant (Lynchburg, VA/Heritage) also chipped in with an RBI and a run.

King College improves to 11-6 overall.

Today’s game was the first of four games in three days for the Hornets. Lynchburg College (10-6, 3-1 ODAC) takes on Tufts University at 2 p.m. Friday and meets up with Emory and Henry for a conference double-header on Saturday, beginning at noon.
Just catching up on the week...Hampden-Sydney (8-11) dropped all three games on their spring swing to Georgia. Coach went with his youth on the mound....he started freshmen in two of the games and a soph in the other. He also tried several combinations at 2nd, 3rd and rightfield hoping someone would step and take charge at those position's. Not sure anyone did. BIG game for these schools this weekend...Hampden-Sydney host Randolph Macon this Saturday in an ODAC double header. I hate that it is only going to be 46 degrees this Saturday after todays high of 82.

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College baseball team swept Emory & Henry College Sunday in both ends of an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) doubleheader.

The Hornets won the opener 11-3 after breaking open a 3-3 ballgame with five runs in the fifth. Freshman Jeff Taylor (Lynchburg, VA) went 4-5 with three RBI and two runs, while Jon Crews (Lynchburg, VA) was 2-4 with two RBI. Jason Kelly (Colonial Heights, VA/Colonial Heights) worked all seven innings, scattering eight hits with no walks while fanning six Wasps. Bucky Mann and Matt Duffy each went 2-3 for Emory & Henry.

Lynchburg trailed 2-1 in the fifth inning of the nightcap, but scored three in the fifth and two in the seventh to win 6-2. D.W. Moore (Lynchburg, VA) earned the win on the mound, working seven innings of seven-hit ball with five strikeouts. Ronnie Labrie (Vinton, VA) was 2-4 with two RBI and Jonathan Sewell (Charlottesville, VA) was 2-3. Duffy and Eric McAfee each had two hits for Emory & Henry (3-14/1-5 ODAC).

The Hornets (12-6/5-1 ODAC) will host Tufts University at noon on Tuesday, and turn around and face Ferrum College that evening at 6 p.m. in a game played at City Stadium.
CNU sweeps Greensboro, 7-3 and 4-1, with Kevin Moreland pitching a gem on Saturday, Kyle Bauman doing the same on Sunday. Kevin Moreland closed out both games, getting the save on Sunday.

For Greensboro, Jess Maloney only had 1 hit during the weekend, but it was very impressive, a home run at War Memorial Stadium in Greensboro that got out of town in left field in an extreme hurry. Amazing what 6'8", 275 pounds can do with a fastball..

CNU improves to 17-5, 5-1 in USA South, 1 game lead over Averett, who swept NC Wesleyan this weekend.

Huge this past week with Hampden-Sydney taking two from rival Randolph Macon....Trailing 4-0 heading into the bottom of the 6th inning the Tigers once again came back with 5 runs to take the victory away from RM 5-4. The second conference win in the last two weeks when trailing by 5 runs heading into the next to the last inning. Once again Josh Michaels started the inning off with a 2 run homer...fr Ben Brawley's tripled tied the game and fr Ryan Daniels single knocked in the winning run. In the 2nd game the Tiger road the momentum from game one and scored multiple runs in innings 3 thru 7 to take a 10-5 victory. Jr Daniel Hadra pitched his best game of the year giving up 3 runs on 4 hits in 7 innings of pitching. Sydney improves to 10-11 for the season and 4-2 in conference play.
