RK,

Its a pretty good JC Baseball school. Its in Palm Desert, California, next to Palm Springs. Our son played in the Jaguar Classic while at his junior college against them at their ballfield a couple of years ago. Facility was well groomed and they played competitive baseball. The surrounding mountains and foothills are a dramatic backdrop to look at while watching some good baseball. I can't speak about the campus or the quality of education they provide, but the baseball program is quite good. Just need to get used to the high temps in the desert.

Hope this helps!

Located smack dab in the middle of Palm Desert. Nice JC campus, and has good academics relative to JC programs in the area. Palm Desert is a lovely community (caveat: it does get a lot of "snow birds" in the winter - that is to say, retirees from places like the Washington and Oregon!, but then again, many college kids head there for spring break) and so they should be comfortable on the social front. The "strip" of towns in the desert runs as follows (West to East): Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Indio. There are also surrounding communities like Desert Hot Springs, Indian Wells, etc. All within half an hours' driving distance. So, plenty to do socially. Facility was good when I saw a game there a few years back, and they have a good rep for baseball. It gets very hot (but generally it is very dry, so it doesn't feel as hot) in PD beginning late April - May and stays hot through 'til about October.

living in palm springs IS NOT the true california "experience"..its like being STUCK in marathon florida with no ocean
Well, I kind of agree and I kind of don't. IMO< Cali has three (maybe four)"types" of living:
mountains, desert, beach, and then the No Cal/So Cal split. So, if your style is the beach, then you are right on, no beach in PD. However, it's only about a 2 hour drive (closer than, oh say, Iowa (smile)).

Oh, and PS - no humidity in Cali - bet marathon Fla is humid.
