What schools will be there? What is the format? This is potentially overlapping with CIF playoffs - what is refund policy? In order to understand "50% of our participants received scholarships..", how may participants are we talking? How many were a direct result of being seen at this event?
I looked at the website and it didn't have any of this info either. I'm not trying to be a jerk... I have players that may be interested. But info is lacking.
No problem at all, I appreciate the questions. I would recommend that if it could possibly interfere with CIF playoffs that those possible participants wait to make sure they are able to attend the event before registering. We had 30 participants last year, 15 of which were offered scholarships at different schools. All 15 received the offers as a direct result of attending the event. Last year was the first year I hosted the event, I expect this years event to have more participants and more schools in attendance.
The format is a pro style tryout; 60 times, infielders will take ground balls and throw, outfielders will throw from the outfield, pitchers will throw a 15 pitch bullpen followed by a simulated game where pitchers will face live hitters. There will also be an educational part of the camp, Q&A and an open discussion will all of the coaches in attendance about the college recruiting process.
I do not have a final college list yet as the total number of schools I will be able to afford to have in attendance will be based on the number of participants. My goal is to have schools at every level, from different parts of the country to offer participants as many options as possible. In my experience, a lot of California HS and JUCO players are unaware of college playing opportunities outside of there area, I've had many players that have left the area, that would not have had an opportunity otherwise, go on to have successful college playing careers.
The schools confirmed to be in attendance at this point are; College of the Desert (JUCO), Riverside City College (JUCO), West Valley College (JUCO), Tompkins Cortland College (JUCO), Harris-Stowe State University (NAIA), Texas A&M Texarkana (NAIA), Monterrey State University (D2), Henderson State University (D2), Montana State Billings (D2) and Cal State Bakersfield (D1). I will also make phone calls and reach out to other schools not in attendance to assist in placing players. My #1 goal is to help every player find a place to play who is good enough and whiling to go where the opportunity takes them.
I will have more schools confirmed as we get closer to the camp date. If you have any further questions please let me know.

Thanks Casey... will be worthwhile for you to put this back up here on occasion as you get more school details.
I will be sending updates as I get them, I wanted to get the date out early so people could plan. I will continue to post updates to the forum.
Thanks,
Casey
Yes, that timing is tough. It's the weekend before section tournaments begin throughout CA so any player on a decent team will still be tied up. But it's short, and some teams may have the day off.
Thank you guys very much for the feedback, I mayrun into timing issues with the beginning of our summer season, but when do CIF playoffs end if I was able to push it back?
This is the Southern Section - up north we start a week later but have fewer rounds.

Thanks, Casey
That's awesome... I think that move will pay off.
