Every individual college recruitment questionnaire that my son fills out asks the same question. " Will you be applying for financial aid" ? Every college admissions advisor tells you to apply for aid even if you're not qualified. It certainly looks like the schools prefer a kid that can pay the full freight over a kid that needs money. Anyone else find this to be true? Any coaches offer a candid response? Thank You.

But of course colleges and universities are all in the hunt for full tuition paying students -- except for the richest schools. Doling out financial aid, especially merit aid, is a big burden and is leading some schools -- especially less well endowed schools -- into a downward financial spiral. It's one of the reasons there will be contraction in the university landscape over the next five years
