I have known him for 15 years and watched his perseverance. Never has the metaphor of the turtle and the hare been truer. He began catching pro pitchers in bullpens in early HS to "get better." Pitchers just loved to throw to him; he learned how to call games and then focused on hitting. Never the star, he made every pitcher a bit better.
It all came together.
