If any college guys coming home for the summer are looking for a place to play, we have 3 great options!

Des Plaines Patriots - won the Metro League and took 5th at the AAABA World Series in Johnstown, PA.

Illinois (Park Ridge) Indians - Bringing "The Tribe" back. I played for the Melrose Indians back in the day, and summer baseball is just not the same without them around.

Elgin Aces - A team created for our players in the Western Suburbs.

Des Plaines Patriots
Illinois Indians
Elgin Aces

Here's a twist on the post . . .

Is there anyone out there that would be interested in HOSTING a player this summer?

We have about 6-8 kids coming in from out of state.

I played in the Valley League back in college and stayed with a host family, and I will never forget the experience!

If anyone is interested please e-mail me: nelson@playballdirect.com
My son is headed out this week to play in the Arizona Collegiate Wood Bat League. We didn't think it was a good idea for him to pitch another 60 plus innings in the Northwoods League, or any other League for that matter so we chose this league for him. It costs about $500 and many of the kids stay in the ASU dorms.

PK threw 80+ innings this spring and in AZ this league only plays about 35 games. We guess he will throw 30-40 IP. It may not be as prestgeous as other leagues but who cares IMO. His coach at Logan will not let any of his current pitchers play in some of this big leagues now because almost all his kids who have been playing in thess leagues show up in the fall with sore arms.

I will pass on what I see this summer for anyone interested in the future. It is a great chance to meet new kids from all over the country AND give Dad something to do all summer!!!!
Hey NC42 DAD, how did the Arizona summer league turn out for PK? My son will pitch in the Northwoods league this summer, but I have no idea how many innings he will get this spring. Turns out that the team he is on (Belmont) is loaded with pitchers and may be a ranked D1 team going into the college season. He'll have his hands full trying to get some innings on that team as a freshman.
I know its early but We are currently looking for players for the 2012 season. The league starts games in April and goes through September, strictly weekend games, Wood Bat only. Prefer players that have played or are still in college or played at a high competitive level but will give everyone a chance. Team is full of college, ex college players. Schedule consists of 22 league games and 3 out of league games in April versus top teams from other leagues. If you're interested please include your Name, Age, experience and positions that you play. hperez235@gmail.com

Sorry for the slow response! Moved to AZ and have been enjoying the weather & playing catch everyday with Kyle!!! OUTSIDE

AZ Collegiate Summer league experience was very good. It doesn't have the talent of the Northwoods League or some of the others but PK had a great coach who taught him a lot about pitching.

The best part was I got to see all the games!! It is HOT though, 500 pm game were usually 105 degrees plus. 730 games were nicer because the sun was down.

I've been following Belmont this spring! PK went to Hawaii last week. Lucky.
I saw that Central Michigan went to Hawaii, what a deal. How is PK liking Central Michigan?

My favorite lefty finally got his first win last night. He has pitched better than his 1-3 record and 5.79 ERA would indicate. Not getting a lot of innings, but the team is now 20-10 playing a very tough schedule.

Hopefully the Northwoods league won't pitch his arm off. His college coach is looking out for him, hopefully he knows what he is doing.
PK likes it up there. We are going to go see him in May. It is a major hassle flying there from here!

He may go to a Northwoods team this summer versus coming out here again. His decision to make, not mine.

I see your boy is getting opportunities. He is doing very well!!! We miss all high school games. It was a lot of fun....mostly. LOL

Stay in touch! Hi to everyone. AZ is terrific - heat and all.
Gotwood!!!

I have not worn a winter coat since I got here. The only shovel I use is to pick up "dog stuff" and my dog is too small for me to need a snow shovel for that!!!

As for living in the moment, I would stay on-line and write more but I am going to jump into my un-heated 82 degree pool right now...as I have been doing for the past week.

Take care.
