I didn't know which forum to post my question on but since we are from NoVa and a lot of posters on the VA forum are both very knowledgeable and experienced I am posting my question here. My son is a junior and attended a showcase last month and has received interest from a few schools. The head coach from a VA D3 school sent him an email and invited him to visit the school and offered to have him stay overnight with some of the players and attend one of their workouts/practices in January(NCAA prohibits him from actually practicing with the team). I wanted to know what tips, advice etc... does anyone have for both him and us as parents when we go for the visit. He has already sent out letters and his player profile to all the schools he is interested in to include this school. I can safely assume that even though he is only a junior and has not played his junior season, they are very interested in him. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That is unusual interest for a D-III to take in a junior, so it almost makes me wonder if they mistakenly think he's a senior? Usually at this time of year they are pretty interested in nailing down their recruiting class from the current seniors.

The other thought I have is that if your son showed that well at the showcase, be patient, you may well have some D-I interest by the end of summer if not before. (Maybe you need to raise your sights?)

As for the rest of it, you cannot really screw it up as long as you don't say anything negative while there. See what they want to show you, look at the school from the acadmic and student life perspective, and ask lots of questions.
