College Websites

I am disappointed with a number of colleges and their lack of desire to maintain an athletic website. With as many students involved with computers and web design, it seems as if there would be a number of studens willing to do this for a few bucks or a couple of credit hours. Computers are an integral part of our society and I find it appalling that an institution of higher learning ignores this opportunity. They hire someone to cut the grass and wash the windows but can’t find a student to keyboard in a newsworthy article or a few stats? Frown

I second that!! I try to keep up on some kids who played with my son and their schools websites might as well be nonexistent. Might have the results up a week or so late, no stats, etc.....

I hope there's a correlation as Presbyterian does a nice job with theirs (

). A friend of my son's goes to USC (the east coast one) and their basbeall web site is excellent. (I know for a fact the assistant SID has the task as part of his job-he's my nephew).

You're all correct though-some schools still have pre-2003 season info on their sites.

The problem with websites is getting updated information in a timely manner. In reality, for a website to be useful to a reader, it has to be updated daily. If I go to a website and the links are outdated or the information is old, I probably won't go back. Not many people want to spend 2 to 3 hours a day updating a website and not get paid for it. JMO.

I am sure that the technology or computer department of a college might be looking for an internship for their students.
I was under the impression that colleges were to be training students for life in the real world. What a great opportunity for someone. Don't you think?
