I am curious. I am sure that there are posters out there who can answer this question.
What level of college baseball do these leagues resemble? Are they comparable to average D1, good D1, higher or lower? I don't know and would love to hear opinions. I know some leagues are generally better. Specifically the NECBL and any other observations.
Thanks

I think your question can best be answered with a resounding ... they run the gamut of all levels of college play. Some leagues garner players from predominately major and mid-major D-1 programs, while others have a wide diversity of players from all levels of college baseball, including JUCO. Heck, some teams even have players who are out of college and looking for a spot on an independent team. So, there is almost too much diversity to generalize.

One thing is for certain tho ... the wood bat definitely changes the game for these players. It offers many pitchers an opportunity to get more innings at a higher level of success than they might see against aluminum bats in college. And the hitters often change their approach after the wood bats of summer, bringing added success in college. JMHO
I've had 2 sons who have played in the NECBL, and we live in Great Lakes League country, so I'll give it a shot. Because the teams are recruited from many schools, the talent level can be pretty deep on some of the teams. It seems that each team has their favorite schools that they recruit from. As the season progresses, injuries can eat into a roster and sometimes the last minute replacements aren't quite as talented as the original players. But most teams would say that they are playing at D1 level. I'll agree that wooden bats change a lot of aspects of the game. It's fun to see how both pitchers and hitters deal with it. Most everyone is sorry to have to go back to aluminum when the summer's over...
