College World Series

...or, the offers received were not from the college the player really wanted to attend. Announcers yesterday talked about the Fullerton catcher...offered a full ride at home to the U of Hawaii...he wanted to go away from home to a great baseball program.....agreed to books only.

Hmmmm............Didn't even think about that. Thanks so much Chill! Will be watching tonight when USC plays.Have watched many of those boys play ball over the years. Watched them play LSU earlier this year. Won 1 and lost 2, yesterday was a plesant surprise.

An added note ref players like Kurt Suzuki at CSUFullerton ... Fullerton has an illustrious history and is presently THE premier baseball school in So Cal. (Hopefully my fellow Big West fans won't be offended by that statement ...) They have many recruits who are drooling to get the opportunity to play ball there and can "stretch" their 11.7 scholarships across the board well because of it ... players are willing to go there just for the opportunity to play baseball for the Titans.

For Kurt Suzuki, their catcher from Maui ... well, playing at U of Hawaii would not have given him nearly the opportunity to succeed at such a high level of competition as he has had this season at CSUF ... and to get drafted in the 2nd round ... All the Big West fans are happy for him and share a little So Cal pride in his season and success ...
