Collegiate Summer leagues...Start? End?

I believe it depends on the league and where the majority of the teams are located. Of the boys around our area that will be playing in summer leagues, a few begin as early as this coming Sunday. A few won't start until mid-June. The rest are somewhere in between. Most of them are finished playing by the end of July or early August.

Some have to report about a week early others only a few of days. Here is a link to a website that has links to the various leagues. If you are interested in a particular league, you could go to that site and look. Just hit the drop box and pick the league.

Some are starting on the 29th of this month. A few are starting on the 30th or 31st of this month, but most start in early June.

Florida Collegiate League starts Jun 4th with the regular season ending July 29th. My son reports on May 28th or 29th.

Playoff probably could go a week longer.

My son reports May 30...moving in...a couple of days of practice...then games on June 2. Season runs to the end of July.

My son reports on June 11, and returns July 30. I'm not sure of the dates of the actual season.

Valley League players report this weekend and early next week; games begin May 31. The season ends around the first week of August.

Unlike the college season where we drive 3 hours or more for most games, being surrounded by several Valley league squads, we can get to most of the summer games in under 30 minutes, and they start at 7:30 p.m. so no problems bailing out of the office. Amen to that!

A number of teams/leagues/players finish their regular season and then wrap up the summer at the (NBC)National Baseball Congress World Series in Kansas at the end of the season.

It's an entertaining/fun/wild event...24 hour baseball...sleepovers at the ballpark...Some leagues send team reps, some teams "qualify", some players are added to teams and taken as free agents as teams "stack" prior to the event.

Begins August 1 this year. Lasts until a team loses out...of wins the title...game on August 15.

Observer, you are right about the NBC tourney. It's crazy, but a lot of fun. I am hoping to make it up there this season.

If you're on a good team you're still playing...playoff games.
Regular summer collegiate season for son's league ran from May 4, a day at or before end of college season and ended July 20. The league is in regional playoffs started this past weekend.

The Coastal Plains League runs a 56 game schedule, and playoffs end around Aug 10.

Son #1 is there. It is hot.

Son actually cramped up pretty badly yesterday. Host mom made him pop a bunch of bananas in his mouth! Yesterday, he drank a gallon of water in preparation for today's game!

Cape League playoffs start Saturday. My son has 7 games in 5 days because of rainouts.

The Florida Collegiate Summer League will hold their Final Playoff Game after the Marlins vs. Indians game on Wednesday, 8/6, at Tropicana Field.

Which team does your son play on? Hyannis? They seem to have gotten backed up quite a bit. Son is at Bourne and they havent had too many rainouts.

Puma1 my son is with the Chatham A's. I saw your son pitch in the All-Star game at Chatham 2 weeks ago. He has thrown very well. The A's had it going late in the second half but have been bit by the injury bug and fog and rainouts leaving the with 2 dh's in 4 days. That with the injuries have just about put all their chances of making the playoffs nill.
What a great experience for these guys. We made it out 2X and my son was just raving about the entire experience.

Coach M-Was fortunate to be able to spend a few weeks up there. What a great visit. Son also absolutley LOVES it! Helps that he has had such a nice little run up there! Playing tonite to try and sneak into the playoffs.

Prayers for Derek Melton and his family for a swift and complete recovery.

The Cal Ripken Collegiate league just finished with the Youse Orioles winning both the regular season and playoffs. LSU's Leon Landry was named the league MVP.

Perfect Game has the Orioles ranked #2 this week in their Top Summer teams. The Orioles are now off to the AAABA National Championships starting next week.

Thoughts and prayers to Derek for a full recovery from his injuries.
