Hi Lawdogg Mom -
http://www.geocities.com/colsportsites/summer.html#tcThis site has a lot of the summer leagues posted along with their websites. Looks like the Jayhawk league had six teams for the 2005 season. While each summer league is different, typically the boys stay with host families and often can get some help in finding summer jobs that will work with their baseball schedule. Last year my son played in Texas and had games six days out of seven. He was lucky in that all of his games were within driving distance so no overnight travel was necessary -- many of the other leagues are not that way. The cost to me was to subsidize his food/misc. budget to cover for the meals the host family didn't provide (they fed him a LOT and spoiled him rotten
) and also cover part of the cost of the airline ticket to/from Texas. His host family also gave him access to a car, but I don't think that is typical. This year in the Northwoods League, I have been told that we will need to arrange to get our son to/from his team home city location. Hope this helps!
