Now the seeds are in place after the games played yesterday and here they are.

1) Deep Run
2) Freeman
3) Godwin
4) Tucker
5) Patrick Henry
6) Hermitage

Patrick Henry plays at Tucker on Monday

Hermitage plays at Godwin on Monday

Deep Run plays the winner of PH/JRT on Tuesday

Should be a great tournament!

Most tournaments don't reseed after each round. They set the seedings, game time, locations, etc... ahead of time. Therefore, with 1 & 2, getting byes, most tournaments assume the next best teams will win, meaning seeds 3 & 4.

While this does not always happen, the intent is to have 1 play the lowest remaining team - 4, while 2 and 3 play each other.

It's not perfect as you describe because upsets can mess with this structure, but it is the most common practice for tournaments.

Thanks. I figured it was just because it was logistically easier, and schedules could be set. Thanks for the clarification.
Herm upsets Godwin in the first round at Godwin 2-1.
Damion Jones hits the go ahead 2 out RBI in the 7th and Brandon Taylor dominated as Herm takes on Freeman at 7 tomorrow at Godwin.

Tucker beats PH 3-0 tonight at JRT behind a great pitching performance by Micah Gorman, going the whole game, and having 13 K's. Dylan Gonzales went 2-3 with an RBI.

Herm vs. Freeman at 7
Tucker vs. Deep Run at 5

Both games at Godwin tomorrow night (Tuesday)
The completion of the Hermitage-Freeman semifinal has been moved to Thursday at 5:00pm. Freeman leads 2-1 in the bottom of the 4th.

Following that game at 7:05pm, the winner faces Deep Run for the district championship.

The Hermitage/Freeman winner will clinch a Central Region tournament berth and will meet James River in the quarterfinals.
