At the local pitching/hitting facility they are offering a 4 week course called Combat pitching. Anybody ever heard of it? I was just wondering if it is worthwhile? Thanks for your responses.
Check out www.theathleticpitcher.com. "Combat Pitching" was a follow-on program to Ron's original "Athletic Pitcher" program, and I've heard very good things about both.
Thanks for the link. Is this instruction mostly strength exercises or is it more of a how to? My son just started pitching alot more this year and I am looking for more of a mechanics type of instruction. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
I'm sure there are mechanical aspects to Wolforth's approach, based on what I've heard. Similar to Tom House, he incorporates diverse components that comprise successful pitching - mental, physical/conditioning, strategy, biomechanics, nutrition, etc.
For example, he guarantees 3 mph improvement in pitching velocity for students who attend his boot camps and follow the instruction he gives and apply it to their daily regimen. This could not be ascribed to conditioning alone. If you have specific quesions, I'd recommend you call or email him to find out if his program would fit your son's needs. I'm considering the same for mine.
