Without getting into great detail. Son had college scheduled to come watch him pitch at a game this week. His start got moved up by hs coach and will no longer pitch on day college said they were coming. How should we go about letting HC of college know. Is calling acceptable? Is calling tomorrow ok due to the fact it's Easter today? Thanks

just call

Don't wait.  In many instances, there are flight plans involved and depending on how many stops are  planned in the area, they will likely want to know as soon as possible.  Also, they may be able to adjust their schedule if your son is pitching the day before.

It happens.  It won't come as a shock to the RC.  I am curious though.  It is more common, I think, for the college coach to communicate with the HS coach.  Was that never part of the equation?

Wow, I hope it's a pretty important HS game.  Kind of surprised a HS head coach would do that to your son.  Had you let him know the college coach was coming.  Don't often see HS head coaches change up a schedule pitching spot for a kid who has a college coach coming in to see him.  I'd hope it didn't involve a long trip, flights, etc.

Esp. during the collegiate season.

Didn't even think of that.  With colleges playing at least one weekday game and 3 or 4 weekend games every week, their chances to get out and see a kid are very limited.  It's rare to get a college coach to visit during their season (most recruiting is done in the summer), so I'm gonna guess he really liked the kid to be planning a trip during the season.  Again, wondering if the HS coach knew about it....or at least realizes that he may be causing a pretty big inconvenience to the college coach and not helping the kid very much

Head coach knew. He schedule him to pitch that day. Was kinda a shock.

Wouldn't have been too happy.  How far was the college coach traveling?  Was the HS game a "must win"?  League game with title implications?   A couple reasons I could see for changing up your son's schedule, but still seems kind of strange.  Hopefully the college coach understands and can reschedule

2016 future school has been trying to come see him since season start. They were really interested in first start as if complete game SO would  occuer 2016 would have tied an 20 yr. old record.Future school was even having trouble in even getting ahold/answers back with HSHC the last I heard (week ago)It really amazes me that any kid can get recruited and the school has no idea name of  HScoach.

Wow. Y'all sure sound self-centered. What if the coached moved up the start because it helped the team overall? As much as you like it to work out best for all, the needs of the program trump the needs of the individual (coaches included).

That's kind of overboard.  It's not like the kid picked some date out of thin air and then told the coach he needed to pitch that day.  Coach had the date set and changed it after kid confirmed with college coach.  If the high school coach was up to speed the whole time, then I think there is some extenuating circumstances that should prevent the date getting moved (despite team needs - or more precisely a change in team needs).

If the coach was not part of the discussion and simply made a change, then cannot blame really blame him.  But to say a scheduled pitch date with a college coming in to visit is still at the complete discretion of the high school coach is putting a little too much power in their hands - they need to have some flexibility in the process (a "guaranteed" pitch date one week out would not seem too much to ask).

"Wouldn't have been too happy." Haha. I liked that line.

Not self-centered at all....just asking some questions to clarify.  Of course the good of the program comes first....but I would hope the HS coach did all he could to make it possible for the college coach to see the kid.  2017righty even commented himself that the change was kind of a shock.  Most HS coaches I know are thrilled to get their kids college looks, especially at a HS game.
