I would like to see a requirement where a percentage of your ML team must be grown from your farm system. Any thoughts?
It will never happen. Montreal would be the only competitive team in baseball if you did that.
Would lessen the importance of the GM too. Teams with weak farm systems would never be able to compete, like the Yankees (just funnin').

FYI, the Yankees use their farm system as well as any team in baseball. They develop good talent (Bernie Williams, Jeter, Posada, Soriano). They trade away prospects for a proven commidity (Ex: Willy Mo Pena, Nick Johnson, etc.)
Just because they have money and are willing to spend it, does not make them stupid. While most people dispise them becuase they spend money and the fact they are good, please do not mistake them for not developing talent.

Steinbrenner is more concerned about his legacy and the continued geatness of the Yankees than how much money his great grandkids will be fighting over.
