Thanks a ton cabbagedad - that is what I was thinking, and completely agree 2018 shouldn't be sharing any of this w/ teammates as nothing good could come out of that. We harbor no thoughts that these invites mean much of anything, but what they can do is crack open some doors that he may not have known about otherwise - then its up to him. Thanks again.

You are correct in that it can be interpreted as self-serving. Son should just go out and play hard and hopefully his efforts outside of HS season will show on the HS field. If the HS coach is involved at all with the recruiting process, he will see this and open up lines of communication if and when appropriate regarding son's specific recruiting efforts. Otherwise, there isn't really anything relevant that your son would need to bring up that I can think of. In SoCal, where you live, it is generally the rule and not the exception that aspiring players will be involved in baseball outside of HS season if they expect to compete with decent programs so it really shouldn't be a big deal or talking point. Further, I suggest your son take the same approach regarding teammates. The kids generally don't care for a player who is always bringing up his own accomplishments and experiences, whether it be with the common topic of club/showcase ball or how many hot girls he texts on a regular basis.
The attention he is getting post-event is a good sign but it carries no weight with the HS program. Also keep in mind that attending the bigger events such as Stanford Future Stars generally results in a flood of camp requests for ALL who attended.
