Congratulations to Christopher Newport University (currently 27-9) on winning the regular season and Tournament crowns in the USA South, and the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III regionals. Shortstop Trae Bailey, a Tidewater product, was conference Player of the Year, and Kenny Moreland, from No. Va., was Pitcher of the Year and Tournament MVP. CNU won four in a row last weekend, besting North Carolina Wesleyan twice in the Burlington Royals Stadium on Sunday to take the crown.
Lots of Tidewater and northern Virginia players on a very strong CNU squad. CNU dominated the All Conference teams as 7 of it's 9 starters were named All Conference on first, second, or third team.
