Dana missed a couple of games after he took a pitch off the hand that bruised him pretty good. He's fine now and has been tearing the cover off the ball at the DH spot. He also has been outstanding as a relief pitcher. Dana shutdown a tenacious Georgia State club trying to rally last Sunday. Hudson dominated the game for 8 innings but gave up a couple runs on a HR in the 9th. Dana came in and closed the door.

Don't be surprised if the hand incident doesn't happen again. When he was in HS this happened twice broke it once, probably same hand, same thing cost him a year at ODU but got red shirt. He's been hit on the hand several times and broke it at least twice or three times.

Obviously he does something that allows him to get hit on the hand regularly -- wonder what.
Ditto on the Congrats to ODU. Ranked 30th in the country. They won't be suprising anyone in the CAA this year. They are a legitimate title contender. Patrick Nichols (Greenbrier Christian grad )leading the CAA w/ 10 HR's. Dan Hudson (PAHS) is off to a great start, I believe a 4-0. Chris Keenan (GBHS)is having a solid year @ 2B. Fetterly(Granby HS) & Jones (Wilson HS) contributing on the mound. Good to see the local guys(Hampton Roads area) making an impact w/ the Monarch program. Congrats to JMU also for being ranked 25th in the same pole.
Jared has been remarkable so far this year. A pleasure to watch. He sure hasn't been playing like a freshman. If he continues on this pace he will be the CAA Freshman Player of the Year. But don't issue any awards yet, there are plenty of games still left to play. But Jared has been a pleasant surprise to the VCU program.
Congrats to Bolden. Hudson too is a freshman and is sporting a 4-0 record with a 0.92 ERA.

Valefty44, I'll be watching this weekend to see how the VCU/James Madison series goes. JMU has got some kids playing just out of this world. I'm looking to see Scotty score some runs and lead his team. We've got William and Mary on our plate this weekend, then JMU. We wont see your kids until May. There is lots of baseball between now and then. Good luck.
cpkebaseballdad,
Sorry to say that JMU beat us like a rented mule! We picked the wrong weekend not to hit, but they deserve all the credit, good pitching, timely hitting & aggressive baseball. Hats off to them on their sweep. But it looks like you guys keep rolling along also with your sweep of W&M. It sounds like it will be a knockdown drag out next weekend at "The Bud" when JMU rolls into town w/ two top 30 teams at both tied for the CAA conference lead. Best of luck next weekend. I hope the Hampton Roads area comes out in masses to support you guys.

Thanks. The kids found a way to win despite not playing our best ball. You know the Bud, wind seems to always blow in from right center about 20 mph. It certainly did this weekend. Quite a few balls hit that would have been gone on even a neutral site. The cold NE wind put a damper on the offense this weekend.

I'm sure VCU will bounce back. Way too good a team.

Hoos...you're right about Miles. The kid is a spark plug. Jimmy is playing outstanding ball...gets on base and makes things happen. Then again, this team has at most times played outstanding ball... up and down the lineup. It's not just one guy. We've gotta pick it back up with Maryland on Wednesday and JMU this weekend.

Come on out Hampton Roads. Like valefty44 says, two teams playing good baseball. JMU has a couple of kids putting on hitting clinics and ODU has had some starting pitching that has been outstanding. They say good pitching beats good hitting. We'll see next weekend.
